This year our primary falls on May 21st, 2024
Anyone who has lived in Idaho, even a short time knows that our primary is the apex of the election year. As a "red" state, it is understood that the Republican who wins the primary will almost certainly go on to win the general election in November. There is some much hitting us at one time. If you were like me you felt almost a false sense of comfort living in Idaho. Confident, that our Republican values would prevail in our safe corner of the world. However, while we were not watching, liberal policies and votes have been creeping into our conservative state.
While we have been able to stave off many liberal policies, such as funding transgender surgeries with state tax dollars or allowing illegal immigrants to obtain driver's license. It reveal that some of our representatives may not be holding to the conservative principles that we value.
I will admit that I was surprised at the votes cast by some of our representatives. These are people that I know and like. That I vote for automatically without thought. To find that we have Republicans who vote to allow school children to access pornography in our libraries, to allow illegals access to taxpayer funded medicaid was disappointing to say the least. To underscore the damage illegals are doing to our local healthcare, Denver saw hospitals near collapse from the wave of illegals they were forced to service. Its long past the time that we see how this negatively impact Americans. I support our farmers and ranchers, but I can not support using taxpayer dollars to subsidize corporate dairies who do not offer benefits or prefer to employee illegals at substandard wages while allowing the taxpayers to foot the bill.
Those same people attacked our IDGOP chair, Dorothy Moon, and tried to undermine our caucus. It saved our taxpayers over $90,000 in taxpayer money. Was it perfect? No but it will get better each year while saving our state precious tax dollars.
I was also disappointed to see that several former Republican leaders proactively trying to advance Rank Choice Voting. They sell it as being open primaries, but even the Idaho Supreme Court said that it was not an open primary and disallowed that misnomer to be allowed on the ballot for voters. There is a link on my websites home page that you can click to learn more about Ranked Choice Voting. Why it turned Colorado blue and why Alaska pushed to get it removed this year.
I hope that our precinct shows up to vote. I can't emphasize how import these our primaries are, or how they will determine whether our state remains red. Please get out and vote on May 21st. I also hope that you will vote to keep me as your Precinct Captain in Precinct 23.
Please reach out to me with any questions.
Thank you for taking the time to visit.
